of the Real Audiencia de Charcas. The city
preserves magnificent colonial buildings of
the 16th and 17th centuries, including the
material. La Recoleta church and museum, and
the University of San Francisco Xavier de
Chuquisaca which is the second oldest University
in America.

PATRIMONY OF THE HUMANITY
Potosi declared "Cultural Patrimony of
the Humanity" by UNESCO is one of the oldest
cities in America. In colonial times it was the
largest center of Silver production in the world.
It's population exceed that of London, and is
economic activity equaled that of the most developed
cities of Europe.
Potosi is also reknowned fort its preservation
of many buildings and churches of baroque style,
such as the Santo Domingo church, the Cathedral,
and "La Casa de la Moneda" where coins
were minted from the silver of the "Cerro
Rico de Potosi" for using all over Spanish
America.
